When the suspect stopped his vehicle, he ignored commands from the officers and fired a handgun at them. Officer Bruno was hit in the chest by one of he gunshots, but was saved by his tactical vest. These officers returned fire, seriously wounding the suspect. They then proceeded to remove him from his vehicle and started life saving actions, including the use of a tourniquet.
